Irohazaka is the common name of two famous winding roads in Nikko, Tochigi, northern Japan. Zaka (or saka) means slope in Japanese. Iroha indicates the first 3 letters of the old Japanese alphabet. Irohazaka consists of 48 curves
2 roads belonging to Irohazaka were built in 1954 and 1965 respectively.
After that, although the route was restored and expanded, the number of curves remained the same until now. This is the only route connecting from Nikko city to the mountains of Oku Nikko.
