Liang Disheng, 88, who is one of the oldest Daxi, said people always follow the rule: Only use kungfu for defense, not attack.




The people are proficient with weapons, from sticks to swords, swords ... All are kept in the village's ancestral temple. This is also a place where adults teach kungfu to young children or practice together. In addition, people also regularly practice martial arts at home, on the farm or at the street stalls, when there are no customers.
The people of Daxi started to practice kungfu after the Shaolin monk Tang Laoshun moved here about 150 years ago Zhong Molin, a village kungfu master, said Tang was constantly bullied by people when he first arrived.



However, he handled it easily thanks to his skilled martial arts. Once, Tang used a pair of chopsticks to catch every stone thrown at him. Another time, Tang did not beat the village's best kungfu fighter. This person was even equipped with a long cane.
Respect for the monk's martial arts, the villagers of Daxi decided to practice kungfu with Tang every day. That tradition is still preserved today. Zhong is a descendant of the sixth generation kungfu in the village, and is opening a classroom teaching literature and martial arts to the children.

However, there is also a legend that people have known kungfu before. This 700-year-old village is located at the foot of Mount Liuwan. According to Liang Yuancheng, a descendant of the seventh generation in the village, in ancient times there were many robbers in the mountains.
They often come down and steal wealth from villagers. In order to protect his property, Liang's ancestors practiced martial arts and this made them reluctant kungfu masters. "People practiced kungfu on their own until Tang Laoshun appeared and taught them to practice martial arts systematically," said Liang.
Today, in China, many tour operators organize kungfu tours, bringing Chinese tourists to famous places related to martial arts.
