If you go to Lijiang, Ancient Phoenix or just go to Jiufen during the day and then go without sleeping overnight many people will find Jiufen a little, boring and nothing, will be quite disappointed I went to both Lijiang and the old Fenghuang, but I still find Jiufen very adorable and deserves to spend 2 days a night here.




Those who have seen director Hau Hieu Hien's City of Sadness or Japanese animated film Spirited Away will know that Jiufen is a small town that cannot be stopped when you come to Taiwan. Jiufen is said to have inspired director Hayao Miyazaki to create this Oscar-winning animation. Jiufen was formerly a famous gold mining town when gold mines were discovered in the late 19th century, causing many people to flock to Jiufen. This has formed busy neighborhoods along the slopes. However, after the 2nd World War until 1971, the gold mines gradually decreased and completely closed, Jiufen became deserted and lost. It was not until 1989 when the movie City of Sadness set in Jiufen was a huge success, that Jiufen was reborn. Since then, tourists have flocked in, making houses, restaurants, tea rooms and restaurants rebuilt and sprouted everywhere
During the day, Jiufen is also normal, not very impressive except for the shops selling souvenirs, clothes, drinks, food but just off the sun, Jiufen is transformed into a splendid sodomist who is preparing to welcome guests at the ancient institutes in love stories or swordplay.

But my favorite is sitting in the teahouse, making a teapot, watching the rain fly through the door frame. The weather is cold, but the tea is hot, slightly evaporating, zooming out in the distance is Keelung port or simply watching the stream of people walking down the other street.



Very gentle, peaceful and relaxing. The earliest open tea shop here is Jiufen Teahouse, since 1991. The shop is made of wood, the decoration is simple but makes me feel very comfortable and cozy. The second tea shop is A Mei Tea House with rows of red lanterns and romantic windows that stand out brilliantly at night. At any teahouse I find a corner, facing the sea, making a teapot, slowly enjoying a cup of hot and fragrant tea in my hand, sipping and thinking about life, about the trip ... interesting nothing like that.




Jiufen is very small, walking for half a day is the end, so during the day it's sunny, eat coffee, drink tea, choose a shop with a view of Keelung Port and the convoys are slowly crawling to the top. Or you can also climb Jilong mountain, also known as Big-Belly Beauty Mountain, which can see the whole town and sea. On clear days, both Taipei and Tower 101 can be seen.
If you come to Jiufen, choose a rainy day, it will be cold and stay in Jiufen for one night. Sip a cup of hot tea by the window frame in the rain or take a slow walk on the small, watery paved streets.
