To the Himalaya
I was lucky enough to be on a direct flight from Vietnam to Bhutan.
The normal route for Vietnamese tourists is to fly through Thailand, transit one night and then the next morning to go to Bhutan, but thanks to this first direct flight, it only took me nearly four hours to travel from the city. Ho Chi Minh to Paro international airport
Anyone entering Bhutan must apply for a visa (except for Indians, Bangladeshis and Sri Lankans only) through a domestic travel agency. No one is self-sufficient. No matter how many times you have been to Bhutan, you must come with a local guide
Because they are a Buddhist country and are ruled by the King, they have respectful rules that would be easy to break without someone to guide us.

I hardly slept during the flight because I was nervous. The feeling of a bit of heartbreak as the plane tilted over the rugged Himalayan gorges is truly memorable.
The Bhutanese are considerate
Welcoming our group at the airport were the instructors instructing the locals to wear Gho - the national dress for men (the national dress for women was Kira). It will be chilly early autumn, but the sun is dazzlingly bright above the head.
They warmly put a thin silk scarf around our necks and kindly put the luggage on the bus. Because I have to book a tour, I completely entrust the tour company, how they make the schedule to follow, not too bothered. And during the tour, I found my beliefs are valid

In addition to being taken care of from accommodation to sightseeing, we are also cared for by the tour guide and explain carefully for several days. Communication is almost unobstructed because the Bhutanese speak English clearly and correctly.

I was surprised to learn that in addition to free education and health care, the government of Bhutan also allows the entire population to study entirely in English, following the same educational program as India.
Together we walked through the winding roads on the mountainside, exploring the capital Thimphu and the major cities together; visiting many fortresses (Dzong), pagodas, and temples; together rowing boat across the rocky rapids on the river Mother River Cha; let's learn many things about Bhutanese culture, together enjoy "emma dashi", ie chili cooked with cheese, traditional dishes here ...
The most important highlight of the journey is that we have been climbing together for 3 hours to reach safety at Tiger's nest (Taktsang Palphug Monastery), the holiest place in this country.

Come to Bhutan, think about the definition of "happiness".
A tiny country in the Himalayas, "stuck" between two "giants" China and India, and has only 700,000 inhabitants. The standard of living is not too high, everything is quite rudimentary, but they do not trade the environment for anything.
Bhutan is the only country in the world with a CO2 emission index below 0, has a total forest area of over 70% (compared to the national area) and they are committed to complying with a sustainable harvesting plan. to keep this ratio steady at over 60%.
Are the Bhutanese as happy as they are proud? I think it completely depends on each person's definition of "happiness".

Preserving the environment, preserving cultural identity, spending a lot of time and money on religious activities and works ...
may slow Bhutan on the economic track, but it is an option. If you understand happiness in the direction of being satisfied with the life you have - in every way, the Bhutanese are definitely happy.
To explain for the happiness “brand” that has been successfully built up in Bhutan, from my personal side, I noticed a few points like this:
The Bhutanese government cares about health and living environment. It was the first country in the world to completely ban smoking. There is never a burning scene in public. Tourists are also allowed to carry only a very small amount across the border.
All agricultural products in Bhutan, whether self-sufficient or imported, are grown naturally and very safely. You can buy anything at the market, wash off the dust and eat it right away.
It is not hard to think that "what to eat does not die" is a luxury thing in many other countries.
