Currently, more than 80% of Coober Pedy people live in restaurant houses, instead of suffering the harsh heat on the ground. Faye Nayler, an elderly woman, has been building underground houses since the 1960s. With two friends, she built a bar, a swimming pool and a fully equipped kitchen underground.
