Taolin Village in Hunan Province, China is the place where the craft paper making from bamboo has been passed down for more than 1,300 years. The village was once a famous paper-making center in central and southern China before being competed for industrially produced paper.

After being transported to the village, the bamboo bundles are soaked in a lime hole to accelerate the decomposition process. This takes a few days, helping the stalks soften

The bundles of bamboo brought up from the soaking pit must also go through washing, boiling before grinding to make them softer.
The mixture obtained after crushing bamboo is pulp. The worker is now diluting the powder in the water tank and then using a tool like "sickle" made of bamboo to make sheets of paper. In the photo, Li Qiugui scrambled paper under the guidance of his father. The sickle is sifted back and forth in solution so that only pulp remains on the sickle. This job requires dexterity, evenly to achieve the desired thinness of the paper.
