Visitors can watch the yellow and red leaves all over Taiwan in the fall, most in the suburbs and mountains.

Autumn in Taiwan starts in September and lasts until December every year. While the forests in Europe or Japan, Korea are most brilliant in mid-October, in Taiwan the red and yellow leaves appear later, in early December.

Historical Caoling Trail is located above the coastal highway, offering panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and grass-covered mountains on the northeast coast. This 8.5 km long road is located at the junction of Toucheng town and Gongliao district of New Taipei City Caoling Historic Trail is the remains of an ancient route connecting Taipei and Yilan.

Every November is when silver grass blooms on the slopes around the Caoling Trail, forming silver waves every time the wind blows. This is also the time for a month-long Silver Grass festival to promote the destination, attracting visitors. Visitors here can see actors in theater costumes, soldiers or waitresses to play quizzes and serve hot ginger tea to hikers.
Xizhi Beaconsfield Hall, New Taipei City

Xizhi Beaconsfield Hall in New Taipei City is one of the most popular destinations for viewing yellow and red leaves

The temple was built in 1901, during the Qing Dynasty to worship Buddha Shakyamuni and surrounded by more than 1,000 maple trees.



The best place to take fall photos here is the double arch bridge leading up to the pagoda.
Aowanda Forest, Nam Dau

Aowanda forest is located at an altitude of 1,100 m - 2,600 m, southeast of Nam Dau district. Aowanda is divided into four areas including waterfall, forest park, maple and pine area. During autumn and winter, the most popular destination here is Taiwan's largest naturally growing maple tree area.
Heping Town, Taichung
The town of Heping is nestled in the middle of central Taiwan's mountain range, famous for its natural landscape in spring and autumn.
Traveling to Taiwan, visitors can visit two farms here to watch the autumn colors silhouettes under the calm lake or walk through the maple leafy trails in November and December.
The first destination was Wuling Farm, a farm originally set up for the development of central mountainous agriculture, now dedicated to ecotourism.



The maple leaves here will turn red from mid-November in the Youshan and Qijiawang valleys, like a red blanket covering the farm. Following the main road named Wending, visitors will encounter a large maple tree at Wanshou Bridge.

The next sights in Heping is Fushoushan farm with flower fields blooming year round and apple, pear, peach, cabbage gardens ... The maple trees are most concentrated in the tourist information center of the farm.



The most popular destination in Fushoushan is Lake Tianchi or the lake in the sky, located at an altitude of 2,580 meters. This is the best spot for viewing the western peak of snowy mountains, which is often surrounded by clouds and afternoon fog.
Alishan Plateau, Chiayi

Alishan is located about 58 km east of Chiayi city. This plateau is suitable for a year round visit with spring cherry blossoms, autumn red maple leaves, and majestic hilly scenery.
Alishan is not too crowded with Taiwanese tourists, suitable for those who are looking for a trip to immerse themselves in nature. When you come to Alishan in the fall, you can see the forest turning brown, all over the path are fallen red maple leaves that are like the scene of a movie.

Food should try
Beef noodles

This is one of the most popular dishes in Taiwan, with three main ingredients including noodles, broth and beef. In which the water is said to create the appeal of the dish. Traveling to Taiwan, visitors can find this dish everywhere, with slight differences in the taste of each restaurant.

A bowl of minced pork rice often surprises diners when they taste it for the first time because of the softness of the meat. The main ingredient of the dish is minced pork and stew with soy sauce and soybeans, served with white rice.



This dish is also found throughout Taiwan, from street vendors to upscale hotels.

Another popular dish in Taiwan is oyster noodles with a thick broth like crab soup in Vietnam. The main ingredient of the dish is fresh pork belly and oysters, in which the pork belly is braised with about 10 herbs and some other spices. The noodles are handmade, round and small as vermicelli. The dish is cooked until soft so that it can be eaten with a spoon instead of using chopsticks. To make the dish more delicious, diners often add one.
