Nestled among the vineyards of the Vosges mountains in the Alsace region of northeastern France, Colmar is one of Europe's best-preserved medieval towns. Colmar is located about 70 km from the city of Strasbourg and bordered by Germany. The town is also on the main railway line from Strasbourg to Besel, Switzerland. Pfister house was built in 1537 and the owner is hunter Ludwig Scherer. Two-storey corner house, wood gallery, octagonal turret and murals represent biblical images. The "jewel" of the town is the Petit Venice district, known as the Little Venice of France. A short, calm canal flows through the neighborhood. The two sides of the canal are planted with trees and colorful flowers. Some buildings here date from the 14th century. There is a boat tour, sightseeing on the canal. Each trip lasts 25 minutes and the boat driver will give explanations and introduction about the history and story of the town.
