The Korean Embassy said it would open a Visa Application Center in Ho Chi Minh City, to solve the overload of visa applications for Vietnamese people to come to this country.

After Korea implemented the preferential visa program (Vietnamese citizens with household registration in Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City are exempt from financial proof when applying for 5-year multi-time visas) in December- In 2018, the number of Vietnamese traveling to this country skyrocketed.
The number of people applying for visas at the embassy and consulate of this country is so large that there is a situation of people waiting in line early in the morning, consular staff are always overloaded. The Korean side hopes that the new center will help solve this situation.
The Korea Visa Registration Center (KVAC) is located at 5 Me Linh Square, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, including 15 counters to receive and return Korean visa results, expected to come into operation from the 2nd -5-2019
According to Mr. Jeong Woo Jin, the new visa application center will help receive the registration documents and transfer them to the consular department for processing. Depending on the type of visa, processing time will vary

Lee Bok Hang, consul at the Korean Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, said the center will receive and return regular visa applications.The Visa Division at the Korean Consulate only deals with urgent special visa applications, such as related to human life.
The Korean Consulate also said that after the center in Ho Chi Minh City, it is expected that by mid-May 2019, a similar Korean visa registration center will also be opened in Hanoi.
According to current regulations, the fee for the 5 and 10 year visa is both 80 USD (1.7 million VND). Deadline for issuance is 8 working days. For some people, the embassy may request proof of occupation
The basic application for a visa includes: a passport photo, original passport and copy, original identity card (identity card) and a copy.
In 2018, Korea issued 180,000 visas to Vietnamese citizens. Expected number for 2019 will be at least 300,000.
According to statistics of the Korea Tourism Board, in 2018, Korea welcomed more than 457,000 Vietnamese tourists, an increase of 41% compared to 2017.
Vietnam also maintains its position as the market with the highest growth rate in the world for Korean tourism.
