They thought this was a good omen so they decided to build a monastery in this place. The name Thiksey means "perfect order", which means that the offering cake was placed on the rock in a neat manner, or placed in the same perfect way as when it was placed in a ceremony. worship.
The annual festival held in Thiksey is Gustor, from September 17 to 19 of the Tibetan calendar (around October and November). This festival features special rituals, as well as traditional dances associated with rituals and beliefs. This is also an opportunity for villagers in Ladakh to exchange and sell traditional local goods.
