However, by the 1990s, this place was in danger of disappearing forever because many investors and large companies wanted to clear the village to build more high-rise buildings. Facing this situation, Mr. Hoang Vinh Phuc, a veteran who has been here for more than 40 years, decided to start his career with a palm to protect his living place

He started with some simple drawings on his own house.

In 2010, a student accidentally discovered this place and learned the story of Mr. Hoang. This man started a fundraising campaign to protect the old artist's nostalgic village. For several consecutive months, the mayor of Taichung received more than 80,000 letters requesting to keep the villagers' villages. By October 2010, the government decided to keep 11 houses and officially recognized this place as a cultural park.

Currently, Mr. Hoang Vinh Phuc, at the age of over 90, still works diligently every day with his palm tree. You can find his house in a picture of a soldier holding a brush with a smile on his face towards the door. He often welcomes visitors in his simple white shirt and gray hat.
