Tainan Easily Makes Visitors Fall In Love

When I heard that I was about to go to Taiwan for the third time, my friends exclaimed: “Going around like that? Why not go to America, Australia, Europe to have more powerful passport? ”.

Due to self-sufficient travel, a few weeks ago, I was eager to equip a lot of knowledge about the destination, public transport, install the traffic guide application. I traveled to Tainan - the ancient capital of Taiwan on a cool and sunny mid-December day.
As I stepped out of the check-in area of the beautiful international airport, I quickly noticed my countryman working at the tourist guide counter, asking the bus to the station closest to ECFA hotel in Zhongyi Street

. The enthusiastic and energetic girl showed me to pick up the bus no.5 to stop at Xich Kham Lau station (Frontia Fort). I was also quick to ask her to exchange 100 TWD change for the bus (because the bus from Taiwan does not refund any change!)
Wait for the bus at the stop to be clean, with available USB ports for those who need to charge the battery, so convenient! I took a deep breath, swallowing the fresh air and feeling relaxed.




Traveling to Tainan without an Easy Card (Easy Card-EC) is inconvenient. Surprisingly, the card I got from my 2015 trip still works, although a more modern version is available instead. "Top up" - top up my card at a 7-Eleven convenience store near Xich Kham Lau, from here, I can comfortably ride the bus, train, pay at convenience stores.
The night market is an indigenous culture, with a wide variety of products, from household appliances to clothing, especially attractive dishes. A small city like Tainan but has 3 night markets, 1 open on weekdays, 2 on Saturday evenings and 3 on Sunday nights.
Are you lost? Don't worry when Taiwanese people are very friendly, hospitable and always looking for ways to help you. Despite language differences due to few people using English, they are willing to quit their jobs, walk a hundred meters with you to reach the intersection; They are not afraid to run after you when they point the wrong way, maybe even waiting with you for a few dozen minutes

On a chilly Saturday morning, I found my way to Tainan Station to buy a train ticket to Chiayi (Chiayi), from there to Alishan Mountain (A Ly Son) by bus.



She sold tickets that knew English enthusiastically, sold me a train ticket through the forest from Chiayi to Fenqihu.
Alishan 1 train runs 45.8km. This is a narrow gauge railway built during the Japanese occupation of Taiwan island, serving the transportation of wood through the forest, the locomotives are still kept at Fenqihu train station.
Arriving at Fenqihu station, I bought TWD 130 boxed rice, beautiful wooden pressed rice tray, nutritious with meat and many vegetables. Heard that the boss has sold bento to travelers for decades, but has become a giant of the region.
Coming to Alishan, I only had to buy tickets at a 50% discount (only 150 versus 300 TWD). This is also the favor of Taiwan tourism for tourists or locals using public transport to the national park.

Alishan was engulfed in winter mist with a stunning wooden pedestrian walkway that winds more than a kilometer. Relaxing, posing, you can easily find beautiful, fanciful and beautiful photos, blending with nature to separate from the busy and noisy life.
After more than 3 hours, I started my journey by bus more than 70km to Chiayi, then bought a train ticket back to Tainan.
