. It was a lovely small bungalow, alternating between red and green outside, and inside there were more than a dozen functional rooms. The baroque stone facade of the house is built on cellars dating back to the 12th or 13th centuries. The ground floor has a kitchen and a utility room

Since the mid-19th century, the house on Bonngasse 20 has undergone many changes. After the main door was significantly enlarged in 1836, a restaurant called "Beethoven's Geburtshaus" (Beethoven's Birthplace) opened on the ground floor in 1873. In 1888, a merchant took over the house, but sold it again in 1889.
The Bonn city government was not interested in buying the house, so in 1889, the Beethoven-Haus Association was established with the aim of buying and turning the house into a memorial for the composer. Most of the building remains as before
The galleries in the Beethoven house are arranged in ordinal numbers from 1 to 12.
