Oia is a village located on a cliff on the island of Santorini

. This place impresses with white houses with blue roofs like Greek flags. In my opinion, Oia is prettier than a touristy village like Fira. What makes Oia attractive also comes from the delicious seafood restaurants, lovely stalls selling jewelry, handcrafted pottery
Visitors should visit Oia in the early morning to watch the sunrise or wait until the sunset is brilliant in the afternoon.

Transportation to Santorini
Airplane: From Athens city, you can fly directly to Santorini, some airlines with regular flights are Ryanair, Olympic Air, and Sky Express. Ryanair is the cheapest airline, about 20 euros one way, but often runs out of tickets if you don't book at least a month in advance. The prices of Olympic Air and Sky Express are 50 and 100 euros one way, respectively. Flight time is 50 minutes
Ferry: This is the vehicle that I have chosen, the fare is 30 euros one way.



Travel time on board is 7 hours. To save time, you can buy a night ticket, sleep on the ferry, the price is 40 euros one way. Overall, the services on board are good, comfortable, with seats, restaurants, full and clean toilets. The ship will visit Naxos Island, Paxos on the way, if you go in the morning, you can watch the Aegean Sea. When choosing this vehicle, remember to choose the journey from Piraeus (Athens) to Thira (Santorini), because here the ports have different names from the destination.
Moving from port to Oia village: If you choose a bus, you will have to take 2 stops: port to Fira village, Fira - Oia. The cost is 3.9 euros.



On average, there is one bus per hour.

Accommodation
I advise you not to save too much on eating and sleeping. Most of the cheap rooms are usually located in other villages like Fira. It will take you a lot of time to ride to Oia, the cost will increase and you will not be able to watch the sunrise, sunset or stay at night in the village.
Therefore, you should rent a room in the center of Oia village. Rooms here are very expensive, but you can choose from a number of hotels with room rates ranging from 25 to 75 euros per night.
When you arrive and want to check-in your accommodation, you must go to the Tourist Information Center located opposite the bus stop to get the keys as most hotels in the village do not have a reception. Someone will bring your luggage to the room, you can tip them as much as possible since most of the village roads are steep.
Eating
Visitors have a lot of choices when wanting to explore the cuisine in this land.



If you want to save money, you can visit some restaurants such as Gyros or Hungry Donkey, the meals here range from 5 to 10 euros. The meal is quite a lot, 2 dishes are enough for 2 people. Do not forget to try the coffee at Hungry Donkey restaurant for 3 euros per cup.
If you want to save more, you can buy food at some supermarkets near the bus stop. There is no supermarket in the center of Oia village.

If possible, visitors can visit the Thalami restaurant to enjoy seafood dishes.



Recommended dishes such as mussels steamed with wine and rosemary, seafood spaghetti. Or you can enjoy dinner with Greek-style pizzas. Food in restaurants ranges from 10 euros or more.
The common point of these restaurants is that they all have views of the sea. If you are not in Oia, you can come to eat here for sightseeing.

You can change euro currency while in Vietnam or hold USD to Greece if needed.
From April to September is the peak season for Oia tourism. Visitors should not go at this time because the village is small, the corners are crowded with tourists.



I choose to go to November as a low season, but at noon there are quite a lot of people.
November to February next year is the low season, you will enjoy this beautiful little village to the fullest. But the season is a bit chilly, with temperatures ranging from 15 to 20 degrees Celsius. Many shopping stores are closed for winter holidays as well.
