SUMMARY
Background: Blood and intestinal parasites are very common in Vietnam, and the current prevention of parasites in the area has not been systematically implemented. Understanding the epidemiological, clinical, subclinical and treatment results of these diseases is necessary.
Subjects and methods: Patients visiting and treating Anh Nga International Clinic specializing in Parasitology from August 2012 to February 2013. Record clinical symptoms and stool examination, complete blood count, liver enzyme test, ELISA serum diagnosis, ultrasound

Backgrounds: Intestinal parasitic diseases are common in Vietnam.



. Currently the control of intestinal parasitic diseases in Southern provinces of Vietnam is not systematic organized. Assessment of epidemiological, clinical, paraclinical characteristics and treatment outcome of intestinal parasitic diseases is necessary
Subjects and methods: Patients withintestinal parasitic diseases attending the parasites Clinic of Anh Nga from August 2012 till February 2013. Clinical symptoms were recorded as well as stool exam, complete blood count, liver enzymes, serodiagnosis by ELISA, ultra-sonography were performed. Treatment was done according to guidelines ofMinistry of Health.
Results: There were 320 patients studied, mainlyknowledgeable persons, who can access the Internet. Pruritus accounted for 67-100% and urticaria 31-100%. For taeniasis, proglottids creeping from the anus (100%) was the main manifestation. In enteric amebiasis, abdominal pain, episodes of diarrhea and constipation accounted for 94%. infection, gnathostomiasis, strongyloidiasis.



Following treatment, main clinical symptoms were cleared by 80-100%. In toxocariasis, pruritus and urticaria were cleared in 73% and 92% of patients, respectively, and 88% of patients had results of ELISA becoming negative. A high percentage of patients had good knowledge as well as practice on control of the diseases.
Conclusion: Main clinical symptoms were pruritus and urticaria, while in taeniasis it was the crawling of proglottids from the anus, observed by other digestive perturbations. Stool exam revealed ova of ascaris, hookworms, cysts of E. histolytica. There were eosinophilia depending on nature of infection and hepatic lesions in fascioliasis on ultra-sonography. Serodiagnosis was positive in toxocariasis, fascioliasis, strongyloidiasis, gnathostomiasis, cysticercosis Treatment results in clearance of main clinical symptoms and lab results by 80-100% and 88-100%, respectively.
