Saccharin, trade names are Sweet ‘N Low and Sweet Twin. In Vietnam, saccharine is sold in markets with saccharin as its main ingredient.
Sucralose, the trade name is Spenda
Stevia, its trade name is PureVia, Truvia or SweetLeaf Sweetener
Sugar alcohols, including sorbitol, xylitol and maltitol
Are sugar substitutes harmful to health?
According to the National Cancer Institute, there is currently no evidence that sugar substitutes cause cancer. There have been many studies on the effects of sugar substitutes being used in the US. These studies show that the chemical pathway is safe when used in moderate doses.
One exception is that consumers with a genetic disease cannot metabolize phenylalanine (phenylketonuria, or PKU for short). People with PKU cannot eat aspartame because they cannot metabolize the phenylalanin present in aspartame
